A new year, a new blog. How original.
While I’m sure anyone reading this is already familiar with who I am and what I’m about, I always feel like introductions are a good place to start, so here goes nothing! I’m Tobi, for now. I’ve had several other names, both legal and pseudonyms (so if you know me by something else, don’t worry, you aren’t alone), but Tobi works. I am a full time tattoo shop manager and model. The past few months I’ve felt like I’m coming out of a creative rut – opening myself into new expressions that have felt “off limits” for whatever reason – but maybe I wasn’t really ever in a rut. Ever since I can remember I’ve been creating. I’ve been writing since I was a child – everything from plays to manuscripts to journals to poetry & prose. I’ve played several instruments, though none of them particularly well. I’ve danced, sang, painted, made soap, you name it, I’ve dabbled in it.
I’ve been primarily posing for the camera for the past 5 years, working with both local and world-renowned photographers, and since summer of ’16 I’ve been on the other side of the camera as well – mostly taking self-portraits for my Patreon. I’ve toted a camera around on and off since high school, and acted as the unofficial polaroid documentarian of house parties all over the US, but I’m excited to get more serious about photography. I’ve also been writing; mostly prose, which can be found here from now on (woo!). I started this blog to have a catch-all place for my creations that don’t fall into the niche of my modeling. I can’t promise you’ll never see my butt here, but that’s not what this is for. The world has already decided how it views me, now you get to see how I view the world.
All of that said, I bring you: My commute home from work on a rainy Wednesday evening.
Thanks for checking it out. I’ll probably keep posting whether you care or not, but it’s more fun knowing someone does 🙂
